Before you size

How many BTU per cubic metre in the Algarve?: Most properties need 200–250 BTU/m³ because of sun, glass and summer design temperatures of 33–38°C. Insulation, west façades and occupancy swing that number — which is why the five steps exist.
Does the same unit heat in winter?: Yes. Modern Daikin splits are heat pumps. Algarve winters are mild, so heating capacity is usually lower than the cooling you buy for August.
Can I install the pipes myself?: In Portugal the refrigerant charge and F-gas sign-off must be done by a registered fitter. Mounting and trunking can be prepared; gassing cannot.
